- France is famous for its food, and Paris is the hot spot. Even if you don’t have the budget to check out Michelin-star restaurants, there are plenty of gastronomy bistros everywhere around you. Almost everywhere this means diving a bit deeper into your budget.
- For budget options, you can buy bread in bakeries and French cheese at a cheesemonger or in a supermarket. There are plenty of parks where you can have a picnic if the weather permits it.

- In town:
The Paris metro should be able to get you just about anywhere. Tickets cost EUR 1.80 for a single fare (or EUR 14 for 10 tickets, only usable by one person). Day passes for zones 1-2 are EUR 7. Wherever you are going in Paris, it is never more than a short walk from a metro station.
Metros stop around 12:40 am - 1:40 am (weekdays/weekends). After this, taxis and Uber are your best bets. Taxis are expensive.
- Airport:
From Charles de Gaulle airport, the train is the most convenient option (EUR 10 to Gare du Nord train/metro station). At night, night buses are the only alternative to taxis (EUR 8). From Orly airport, you can choose between the train (EUR 7 to Antony train/metro station, daytime only) or the bus (EUR 6 to Denfert Rochereau train/metro station, 24 hours).
- Out of town:
Paris has a good train network, and all the sights can easily be reached by train. The main problem is finding out which train station to leave from: Gare du Nord (Northern France, UK, Belgium, and beyond), St. Lazare (Giverny, Rouen), Gare de Lyon (Lyon, Provence, Marseille), Gare de l’Este (Reims, Champagne, Metz), Montparnasse (Bordeaux, Rennes, Nantes), and Austerlitz (Versailles (also by metro), Orleans).
